1098 THE BEST IN 2007

This year, the SWA (Supertest World Association), the organization that groups together 10 of the world’s most important motorcycle publications, has awarded the "Best Bike of the Year" title to the Ducati 1098. Further confirming the superiority of the 1098 platform, the SWA then awarded the 1098 S with 3rd place—a completely unprecedented event. Never before has one bike platform held two of the top three SWA honors in its class.
This important association is comprised of the editiorial staff from the magazines MO (Germany), MOTO 73 (Netherlands), Moto Revue (France), Solo Moto (Spain), 0-300 (Greece), Due Ruote (Italy), Moto! (Brazil), Moto Journal (Portugal), Moto Sport Schweiz (Switzerland) and TWO (UK) gave the top award in the “Bike of the Year” category to the 1098.

This prestigious title follows numerous awards that Ducati’s latest Superbike machine has already picked up in 2007 since it was first presented at the Milan Show one year ago. The 1098 has met enormous success, from the media and public alike, right from its very first appearance, immediately scooping the “Best of Show” award and registering positive sales both in Italy and abroad. Other important recognitions have included “Best Design” and “Best Sportbike”, awarded by the Motorcycle Design Association, and the “Bike of the Year 2007” award given by readers of the magazines In Moto and Motorrad.

Full Review: The 2008 Harley-Davidson FXDF Dyna Fat Bob

Harley-Davidson Fat Bob Adds a Member to the Dyna Family for 2008

Along with the Harley-Davidson Rocker and Rocker C, the 2008 Fat Bob is a brand new bike that offers a departure from the typical factory cruiser formula. Though less radical than the Rocker, the Harley Fat Bob’s dual headlights lend it a distinctive look that offers a twist on traditional Harley style, while fat tires and a low seat accentuate its mean road presence.

Harley Fat Bob: And Then There Were Seven

Joining the FXD Super Glide, FXDB Street Bob, FXDL Low Rider, FXDWG Wide Glide Anniversary Edition, and the FXDC Super Glide Custom, the FXDF Fat Bob easily fits into the Dyna family like a long lost brother. Shared characteristics with other Dynas include an air-cooled, rubber-mounted Twin Cam 96 V-twin, Electronic Fuel Injection, a 6-speed Cruise Drive Transmission, an under-seat battery box, and exposed rear shocks. Like all Dynas, the Fat Bob incorporates a chassis that was redesigned in 2006 for better handling.

The bike’s exterior proportions support its distinctive name. Though the rider sits on a low, amply cushioned saddle, a wide 5.1 gallon fuel tank forces legs to wrap around. A bobtail rear fender rests over a 180mm wide 16” rear tire, and slotted disc wheels add visual heft to the bike’s profile, as do curvaceous 2-1-2 chrome staggered shorty exhausts with a “Tommy Gun” perforation pattern . Up front, a 16” 130mm tire—the largest ever on a Dyna—is paired with a small fender that recalls the bobber-inspired styling derived from customized, post World War II bikes. The Fat Bob’s face has a striking demeanor: its v-shaped drag bar and blacked out fork sliders, handlebar risers, and mirrors are capped with slick twin headlights that distinguish it from Harleys past.

Harley-Davidson Dynas boast their own bold style, and the Fat Bob’s mechanicals are suited to its too-cool-for-school exterior. The rubber-mounted Twin Cam 96 is a 1,584cc powerplant that, as is typical with Harley engines, is tuned for massive low-end grunt. Torque peak is 92 ft lbs at an impressive 3,000 rpm, which encourages short shifting when maximum acceleration is required. A 6-speed Cruise Drive transmission provides smooth shift action, and though the clutch isn’t hydraulic, pedal effort is manageable.

Front brakes incorporate large, dual floating rotors with 4-piston front and 2-piston rear calipers which slow down the 703 lb bike effectively, while providing decent feedback and moderate lever effort. All 2008 Dynas feature black stainless steel braided brake lines.

The wide-set front fork is a 49mm polished aluminum unit with dual-rate springs, and exposed coil-over shocks sit the rear. Aiding its custom look is a fork rake of 28 degrees.
He Looks Mean, But How Does Fat Bob Ride?
The first thing you’ll probably notice on a Fat Bob is that you sit in the bike, not on it. A roomy, comfortable seat cradles you behind the large tank, though your less fortunate passenger will be forced to endure a much smaller, more rectangular perch. Some riders might need to stretch a bit to reach the handlebars, and foot pegs can be ordered with either a “mid-mount” or a “forward” position. We tested both peg setups, and while the mid-mount lacked the laid back attitude of the forward arrangement, the more moderate posture improved maneuverability and made long distance rides comfortable. The view from the saddle is clean and simple, with a large, tank-mounted speedometer providing quick, at-a-glance readouts. Inset at the bottom of the gauge is an LCD odometer, which has a cool mileage countdown to empty feature that automatically kicks in when fuel levels dip below .9 gallons.

At low speeds, the Fat Bob feels… well, fat. Though the rider sits low to the ground (seat height is only 26.1 inches), walking the bike requires a sturdy heave ho. Once the bike gets moving, turning becomes much more confidence inspiring; momentum aids maneuverability, and the Fat Bob become a lot more fun to ride at speed. Twisting the throttle invokes a classic, growling Harley exhaust note, and the torquey 96 cubic inch V-twin offers up plenty of power, especially at the low end. Though a tachometer doesn’t indicate engine RPMs, there’s so much more torque at the low end of the powerband that it becomes easy to tell, by the seat of your pants, when the engine is running out of steam and it’s time to shift gears. Some vibrations are transmitted to the rider, but engine isolation and rubber-mounting generally smooths out excessive harshness.

Because you sit in the Fat Bob, not on it, wind turbulence is not as overwhelming as you might expect at highway speeds. The lack of protection does create a good amount noise and breeziness, but the rider’s low position within the bike helps avoid the “sail in the wind” sensation created by the Fat Bob’s stablemate, the Rocker. Lean angle is measured at 30 degrees on the right side and 31 degrees on the left, and while peg scraping can be a part of hard turns, overall clearance is appropriate for a custom-style cruiser.
Harley-Davidson puts a lot on the line when they introduce an all-new bike, and the Fat Bob is certainly no exception: not only does it seek to perpetuate everything Harley’s 105 year-old brand has come to represent, it attempts to do so while incorporating the modern element of custom styling.

The Fat Bob succeeds on both the traditional and the forward-thinking fronts: it looks and feels exactly right, while adding the bonus of unorthodox styling—at least by Milwaukee standards. It’s not as stylistically challenging or controversial as the Rocker, but the Fat Bob manages to push the envelope without going too far.

The Fat Bob is available in seven solid colors, including three street smart, matte finishes Harley refers to as “denim.” The Fat Bob starts at $14,795 in black and $15,140 with color paint, plus freight and California Emissions charges if they apply. The bike includes a 24 month unlimited mileage warranty, and the service interval is the first 1,000 miles, and every 5,000 miles thereafter.

MV AGUSTA F4CC

THE F4CC: AN ITALIAN DREAM

“I decided to put my name to this bike as I originally dreamed of it for myself”. This is how Claudio Castiglioni, the Managing Director referred to the new F4 that now carries his initials “CC”. The boss of MV did what any of us might well have done and gave in to his inner instincts, gave in to the temptation to create a motorbike, not just to meet strategic market needs, but to create something really special, something truly magnificent - just for the sake of it. To create the F4CC project, he obviously utilized everything at his disposal; exclusive materials and the latest technology to attain the utmost in performance.

The figures for the new MV speak for themselves: 315 kph (195 mph) top speed (auto-limited by tire specification). Unique in its genre, sculptured by his friend Massimo Tamburini, made with luxurious design and high components hidden in the MV closet, right in that corner where the embryo start to develop: the MV AGUSTA racing department. This model however will never see a race track in earnest due to the size of its engine. What is important is the uniqueness of the F4CC project and the name that it carries. It doesn’t matter if the ignition keys are never turned in the lock, if the bike rests on a stand in someone’s home or if it only does the occasional mile or two to “give it a run”. What does matter for a true enthusiast is to possess just one of the 100 models made and treat it as if it were a priceless painting worth millions. This was part of Claudio Castiglioni’s dream. This is why the F4CC will be presented in “an evening dress” A specially boxed certificate of origin will make the delivery of each machine something very special - more a ceremony. Each machine will have a platinum plate at the top of the steering column bearing the model number from 1 – 100. The F4CC titanium exhausts and engine management unit together have the task of taming the power of the 1078 cc engine yet making it “sing” even sweeter when unleashing all of its 200 CV. The F4CC doesn’t just want to entice with its looks - it wants to out-perform everything else. It wants to leave everyone stunned – for once and for all.

THE LADY IN BLACK

In addition to what the components in full view let us sense, the F4CC in its elegant black dress underlines the elegance and sophistication of a beautiful woman in a “little black number”. The deliberate contrast between painted areas and bare carbon-fibre, between the fairing, the tank and the tail create a piece of modern architecture. Only in the prestige sector of the automotive field can such exclusive design be found. Red lines emphasis the “CC” on the fairing as does the F4 signature. There is however much more. The instrument panel has customized graphics and the all-black Alcantara saddle uses different fabrics on the top and side areas.

You will understand why nothing has been left to chance in this project. As we mentioned before, apart from the fact that 90% of the components are made as one-off items including the fork feet, the upper steering plate, the steering damper, the brake and clutch fluid reservoir, the gear change and brake levers, the footpegs and the side stand. As you can see, the MV F4CC uses special materials built by CRC (Centro Ricerce Cagiva) just about everywhere. The fairing is 100% carbon-fibre and the tailor made filler cap comes from the aero industry. All the protective meshes at the intake ducts and outlets at the tail are made from titanium. The same applies to the lower radiator and the four racing exhausts that form the classic organ pipe arrangement.

THE EQUIPMENT DIFFERENCES WITH THE F4R

The F4CC is at the absolute top of the F4 hierarchy. The main differences between it and the more “commercial” F4R can be summed up as follows:
Over 90% of the components are individually tailor made
Brake and clutch levers that “fold” at the tip in the event of a fall
1078 cc engine
200 CV maximum power with titanium racing exhaust system
New timing system
Smaller alternator
One-off mechanical type slipper clutch
New forks interior set-up and mono shock absorber
Brembo Racing monoblock brakes
Curb weight 187 kilos without fuel

THE BIGGEST NEWS LIES IN THE ENGINE

All 1000 cc engines like that in the F4R have been tuned more and more not just to provide better performance, but also to better use the dynamics of four cylinders working in unison. This is why we increased the bore from 76 mm to 79 and left the stroke unchanged at 55 mm. Cubic capacity thus became 1078 cc – the maximum obtainable from this engine. This is where the MV Agusta racing department managed by Andea Goggi began to work. Their aim was to improve internal fluid dynamics by polishing ducts and working their magic on “chamfering the innards” to gain a few CV. The new combustion chamber geometry was part of an overall reworking of the heads where computer controlled equipment guaranteed work of the very highest order. The pistons were made lighter than those in the 1000 and con-rod geometry was changed. The real difference however lies in the timing system that was made from different sized exotic materials for each and every element. The intake and exhaust valves are still radial (unique MV AGUSTA figure), but are now titanium and the intake valves are now bigger measuring 31 instead of 29 mm. With the wider bore, changes were also needed to the camshaft profile. On the other hand, the valve bowls (still steel) were decreased in size to lose a few grams weight. They were decreased from 28 to 26 mm but still have double springs. These bowls, along with the keepers, valve guides and valve seats are all made by Del West, the American market leader in this sector, and despite the exorbitant price of these components, they were perfect for a machine as exclusive as the F4CC. The weight saved by these higher working speed components led to improved engine “usability” not to mention the fact that they shaved 4 kilos off the weight of the F4CC engine as against the F4R. Other components that contributed to weight savings were the magnesium timing, gearbox, clutch, blow-by and alternator covers.

The alternator cover in particular made a significant difference to the scales given that it alone made a difference of about 2 kilos in comparison to the one fitted to the F4R. Size, obviously makes a difference so the new smaller version meant modifications had to be made to the upper block due to the shape of the new alternator and new hose connections. The fuel feed system included bigger throttle bodies that went to 48 mm as against the 46 mm ones fitted to the F4R. Like the F4-1000 Tamburini, the key to the F4CC engine performance lies with the revolutionary, patented Torque Shift System (TSS). The end result is again an engine without parallel. Like its 2007 “R” sister, the F4CC fully complies with Euro 3 standards with the following components: lambda probe, catalyzer and one-piece exhaust system. The Engine Brake System (EBS) must also be mentioned. This acts as a torque limiter under deceleration. This system was first launched with the F4-1000 series. The F4CC also features a mechanical type slipper clutch with ramps and roller bearings. It is a one-off item of equipment.

THE FRAME: NUMEROUS TAILOR MADE COMPONENTS

Not one item is made using traditional industrial methods and this has an obvious effect on the price of the F4CC. All the frame peripheral components were tailor made. This includes the fork feet, the footpegs (shim adjustable and “filed down” to reduce weight), the upper steering column plate and levers. Every item has been carefully designed then hand built using techniques that the racing department has applied over the years. The F4 frame is made from chrome molybdenum that, while being very light, offers the rigidity that any Superbike putting out more than 200 CV must have. This frame is used widely in the F4 range and remains unchanged on the F4CC. The swing arm and frame plates are superlight magnesium and the choice of a mono arm demonstrates not only how solid this unit is, but the sight of one side of the rear wheel being completely “exposed” further underlines the fact that this is a 100,000 euro MV Agusta.

THE SUSPENSION: NEW SUSPENSION SOLUTIONS

In the suspension department, race experience counts more than ever. It is experience on the track that leads to evolution in suspension systems where improvements take place step-by-step. Flashes of inspiration however are never discounted. Even if everything looks the same from the outside, you can feel the difference when you try the F4CC or you can see the difference when the forks and “mono-arm” are X-rayed. Suspension solutions are the result of extensive research and close collaboration with riders that always want to feel the bike “hands-on”. They insist on no less than predictable, controllable reactions from the machine. All the components at the front are Marzocchi like the enormous 50 mm forks. These items provide solidity and strength under braking and cornering. The forks are carbon nitride treated to decrease friction but this effect also adds to the bike’s overall aggressive image. The one-off steering damper and racing mono shock absorber are both made by Sachs. The mono unit can be adjusted for rebound at high and low speeds. In effect, the F4CC is fitted with racing suspension.

BREMBO RACING BRAKES

The F4CC is fitted with 100% Brembo Racing brakes. This system is an exact copy of the one used on racing bikes that have two 310 X 6 mm discs up front with monoblock calipers housing 4 pistons and 2 pads. A single 220 mm disc looks after braking at the rear. The only difference between the “official” Brembo race brakes lies in the second dust cover fitted to road going F4CC version. This serves to reduce wear on the brakes that certainly will not be serviced as often as those on a pure racing version.

The forged aluminum Brembo Super Light “Y” spoked wheels come in a new color and measure 3.50 x 17” and 6.00 x 17”. They are fitted with Pirelli Dragon Supercorsa Pro tires measuring 120/70 and 190/55.

BRUTALE 910: LA DIVA

For those real lovers of élite motorcycles, the arrival of the Brutale meant the fulfillment of a dream— the dream of having a machine capable of performing and handling like a Hypersport but as laid back and fun to ride as a Naked. The recent success story of the Brutale shows how just such a dream was fulfilled. In just two years these bikes are now to be found in the garages that matter. The Brutale has won over 5,000 new customers and the critics have repeatedly acclaimed her as “Motorcycle of the Year”. The fact that they are widely used by people involved in the worlds of sport, show business and fashion, as well as being an icon of desire, has contributed greatly towards making this MV Agusta a true phenomenon and a symbol of all that is good about Made in Italy. MV AGUSTA F4-AGO 1000

F4 AGO: THE LEGEND BECOMES THE BIKE

Giacomo Agostini and MV AGUSTA have created a legend in the world of motorcycling. This association was born in 1965 thanks to the intuition of Count Domenico Agusta who saw in the youngster from Bergamo a valid team mate that could support the unforgettable Mike Hailwood. In reality, Agostini never played that role but instead immediately imposed himself to the eyes of the passionate fans like the rising star of motorcycling. A few months were sufficient to see him overcome his team mate during the Nurburgring Gran Prix. This victory, obtained on the circuit considered to be the most difficult of that time, marked the beginning of an era that lasted seventeen years, in which period the union Agostini-MV AGUSTA won fourteen world titles, ten victories in the Tourist Trophy and over 250 race wins. But Agostini is not just the rider with most victories in the history of motorcycling. Ago is the ambassador of our sport and of MV AGUSTA in the world. Favored by natural pleasantness ennobled by a film star-like smile and look, the man from Bergamo has learned to create and conserve universal and untouchable popularity. From unbeatable rider to a star of the big screen, from successful team manager (with the Cagiva GP) to disputed television opinionist, Agostini today is also the inspiration of the new F4 AGO, a motorcycle destined to become a tribute to motorcycle history. This limited edition model has sold out and is no longer available.

F4 AGO: A TRIBUTE TO HISTORY

The F4 Ago is a motorcycle of irresistible attraction, dominated by technology and enriched by prestigious components capable of offering concepts recalling the feats of MV AGUSTA and Giacomo Agostini. Coloured obviously in red and silver and configured only as a single seater, the bike represents an important chapter in history to the eyes of the fans.

The attention is immediately focused on the presence of Agostini’s race number placed on a nostalgic yellow stickers on the side fairings.
This is where the trip into the glorious past of the invincible "record machines" of Agostini's era and the insurmountable technical features of today's MV AGUSTA begins.

The rediscovered historic brand placed triumphantly onto the airbox is an invitation to ride.
The seat is coloured in red like those used by Agostini, and is coated in precious alcantara whilst boasting the F4 brand embroided onto the upper cushion.

From the riding position, where anyone can easily find the correct settings thanks to the new adjustable footrests, one enjoys the most gratifying view possibly desired: new rev counter with white background and blue figures which includes Agostini's signature, and on the steering head (which is painted in sparkling titanium like all the other parts in aluminium) an18kt gold plate with the motorcycle's serial number.

From this angle it is still possible to distinguish the red that emerges from the frame in memorial of the grand prix motorcycles.

In this Italian motorcycle-rider union, it's worthwhile mentioning the "tricolore" that has a proud place on the single-seat tail, where the identifying logo of this spectacular MV AGUSTA creation is found. The three hundred owners that have the privilege of sharing the emotion of owning an F4 AGO will receive a precious kit created for this model, a certificate of authenticity signed by Giacomo Agostini to guarantee consumer protection for this limited edition.

MV AGUSTA F4-1000 Tamburini

MV AGUSTA F4 1000 Tamburini

"The dream of every design engineer is to come up with the most beautiful sports motorcycle in the world then turn it into the fastest, most exclusive, sought after and powerful on the market. This was my dream too. I wanted to feel the reactions of a racing bike that could put every available ounce of power through to the ground beneath me and feel it lean into and hug the curves. I wanted to see perfection in every single detail of material, shape and efficiency, an example of mechanical elegance that would be immortal. I wanted a motorcycle with no half measures, a motorcycle that would combine all of the technology tried out over years of research, a motorcycle intended for connoisseurs and true lovers of motorcycles. All of this was my dream. Today it has come true." - Massimo Tamburini

"Sculpt materials and turn them into motorcycling works of art". This is the genius of Massimo Tamburini, and words like "designer" or "engineer" understate the greatness of his work. As the creator of some of most amazing machines in modern motorcycling history, Tamburini has been the force behind the most significant motorcycling event of the 20th century: the MV Agusta F4. The F4 Tamburini version is a blend of the renaissance of a legendary make of machine with all the splendor from whence it came. It is an icon demonstrating innovative technologies and elegant solutions and is destined to enter the legend of speed.

Only 300 examples of the F4-TAMBURINI will be produced worldwide. As with all other special-edition MV Agusta models (such as the F4 Serie 'd Oro, F4-SENNA, F4-SPR, and F4-AGO), the F4-TAMBURINI will only be produced once and will not be repeated. This limited edition model has sold out and is no longer available.

The heart of the F4 1000 TAMBURINI's performance is the revolutionary TSS system (Torque Shift System) based on the concept of variable intake geometry. This is an absolute first in motorcycling history and is the first time such an innovation has been fitted to a mass-produced motorcycle. The result is an engine that offers an immediate response from even the lowest revs and maximum torque positioning (83.1 ft-lbs @ 9,200 rpm) that comes in at about 1,000 rpm less than the F4-1000-S. This incredible performance is despite the use of cam profiles that are more oriented to track than road use.

The cockpit of the F4 Tamburini is embellished with special treatment to the upper steering head, where an 18K gold plaque bearing the name of the model and the serial number is positioned. The upper steering clamp connects to a transversally fitted Ohlins steering damper. The tachometer has a white background and black numbers, and sits neatly beside the digital display that has an additional chronometer function activated with the "Passing" command. The fairing has a new aerodynamically designed Plexiglass bubble that cancels out any negative lifting effects developed at high speeds.

In order to give the rider better steering ergonomics, the forged aluminum clip-ons are slanted 5° to the horizontal and brought forward by 5mm. New grips that optimize vibration dampening have been fitted. All F4 Tamburini bodywork is made of carbon fiber, including the intake ducts. The special finish, which leaves the carbon fiber "weave" visible to the naked eye, further emphasizes the use of this material. The Tamburini logo on the sides of the fairing based on the designer's signature below is new.

The rear suspension is fitted with the revolutionary Sachs Racing shock absorber that belongs to the same family as those used in Formula 1 racing. The unit is more than 1,200 grams lighter due to absence of a gas reservoir and is fitted with rebound-compression (High speed/Low speed) damping and spring preload adjustment as well as hydraulic control that makes calibration easier and more accurate.

The F4 Tamburini features the most esoteric equipment that can be offered on a production motorbike. The front end is dominated by Marzocchi forks with titanium nitride treated 50mm fork legs inserted into a billet aluminum base. These carry the new Nissin Racing single block 6-piston calipers. The Marchesini wheels are inspired by the same design as used on Grand Prix machines. They are extremely lightweight and strong, and boast lower gyroscopic inertia that increases ease of handling and potential cornering speed.

The Y-shaped spokes on the alloy wheels only add to the elegant sculpted design of the progressive, single sided Magnesium alloy swinging arm (weight: 4.1 kg) and emphasize the essence of the Tamburini F4 project. This lightweight material is also used for the frame plates (weight: 1.08 kg) and for the lower fork plate. The footrests are adjustable and are not only made from a solid piece, but also boast the F4 1000 logo. The rear carbon fiber fender is also new. Carbon fiber is also used for the manifold heat shield.

"Motorcycles make us dream. They have different colors, they have different sounds. They have shapes that sometimes show what inspired their designers. Sometimes these creations are real works of art that turn the designer into an artist. This is the case with Massimo Tamburini, a design engineer who has revolutionized the concepts of sports motorcycles by raising them to new limits of performance and granting them unparalleled beauty. To pay tribute to this unique individual, I wanted his latest creation to be called after him with a limited production edition with very specific features. This machine has that look that all motorcyclists love along with the mechanical sophistication that they have always dreamed of. It has the heart of a racing bike yet all the glamour of an individual work of art. It has all of our history and passion in its soul." - Claudio Castiglioni

MV AGUSTA BRUTALE Serie ORO

BRUTALE SERIE ORO: POWER ARISTOCRATIC

The name "BRUTALE" summarizes the spirit that animated the MV AGUSTA designers pushed to imprint to this new model an instinctively aggressive character dominated by an overwhelming mechanical department. A provocative intent for arousing the interest of a passionate public that wishes to distinguish itself from the mass by performance and character at maximum levels. Destined to a public of collectors, many of which are already owners of the F4 Serie Oro, it boasts technical solutions and an exclusive finish that distinguish MV AGUSTA's prime works.

The precious magnesium returns to being the material used for producing the single-sided swingarm with integrated reinforcement brace and passing chain, the swingarm support plates, the splendid wheels, and the steering head plates. Large is also the use of light and brilliant carbon fiber that composes the close-fitting superstructure of the Brutale Serie Oro and that, along with the magnesium components, permits a weight reduction of over 6 kg. Fruit of a meticulous development, the exhaust system has been designed to best join characteristics of efficiency and aesthetics creating, by means of the evocative silencer's double sliced pipes, a new stylistic concept that identifies the personality of this model. Another element destined to give example is the front headlamp. Born from the inspiration of an automobile unit, it unites exclusive characteristics of design and efficiency with an aerodynamic function giving downforce to the front end. The Brutale Serie Oro, available only in MV AGUSTA Red, will be produced in only three-hundred units marked by the now famous gold plate placed onto the steering head.

MV AGUSTA F4-750 SPR

F4 SPR: THE CULT OF SPEED

The SPR is the fastest and most powerful F4 of the MV AGUSTA 2004 range. Created for the clientele that uses the motorcycle mainly on tracks, the SPR is a synthesis of a long tuning process to the Evolution engine.

The technical staff at MV AGUSTA designed a new cylinder head, new inlet ducts, and redesigned the combustion chamber. Also thanks to the new "MAHLE" pistons, stamped and with cooling oil jets, the SPR engine reaches a stratospheric threshold of the rev limiter at 13,900rpm.

A further and significant development involved the primary transmission, now with shorter ratios, equipped with a reinforced clutch. As a demonstration of its racing spirit, the SPR comes with a close ratio gearbox whilst having a long first gear with respect to the SENNA model; this solution in conjunction with the possibility to choose three different final transmission ratios, allows one to match the motorcycle's performance to any type of track. Those of whom will use the SPR on track may further increase performance by adopting the RG3 open exhaust, available as an option.

On a vehicle conceived for such an extreme use, much attention has been directed towards weight reduction, working not only on the engine but also on many components concerning the bodywork. In fact, numerous parts in carbon fiber are evident: the front mudguard, the ignition system cover, and the upper and lower chain-guard protections.

Apart from their inherent properties of light weight and mechanical resistance, these give greater product value to the aesthetics. Even the graphical choices underline the "racing" philosophy of this model. The SPR is available only in opaque black enriched by unique graphical details aimed at underlining the more impressive performance and sports characteristics.

The Chassis

The F4 SPR represents the maximum expression in performance terms of the MV AGUSTA 2004 range. For this reason, the motorcycle has been enriched in the chassis department by top quality accessories:
Marzocchi forks with 50mm legs embellished by a titanium nitride treatment

The Engine

The F4 SPR is equipped with the most powerful engine of the F4 range. Derived from the EV engine, it differs by the following:
New inlet and exhaust ducts (geometry and flux)
New inlet and exhaust profiles (greater lift and duration)
New inlet ducts hand polished
New timing buckets with new surface treatment
New springs for inlet valves
New Mahle Racing pistons
Increased compression ratio (13:1)
Reinforced clutch (discs with different trim and material)
Close ratio gearbox with new longer first gear
Three different final ratios homologated (15/37, 38, 39)

MV AGUSTA F4-750 S 1+1

F4 S/1+1 EV03: PASSION AND REASON

Cloned from the unrepeatable F4 Serie Oro, the S version is enriched by the initials EVO3 which indicate the Model Year and the presence of the Evolution engine. Having an excellent price versus quality ratio, it represents the entry level to live the pleasure of owning an F4. Available in the commemorative chromatic red and silver version or in the luminous "Diamond" color, the F4S is produced as both a single or double seater. In this latter version, named 1+1, the passenger seat was obtained with the intention of maintaining unaltered the stylistic flow of the spectacular arrow type tail end. In achieving this objective, the passenger seat is the same color as the bodywork and the relative footrests are designed to integrate themselves perfectly within the extraordinary F4 lines.

BUELL Lightning® XB12Scg

Engine

Powering this streetfighter is a Thunderstorm® 1203 cc, 45-degree V-Twin. A stump-pulling, gut-wrenching, air-cooled torque machine.

For 2008, Buell advances the performance of its air/oil/fan-cooled Thunderstorm® V-Twin engine series with a larger crank pin, an improved oiling system, and a new electronic timing system and ECM that controls an all new DDFI 3 fuel injection system. Combined, these changes improve drivability and performance, and reduce service maintenance costs. Also new for 2008, the Thunderstorm® 1203 redline is increased to 7100 rpm from 6800 rpm, giving this engine an even broader powerband, and riders the ability to accelerate longer and downshift at a higher rpm.

2008 V Star 1300 Tourer

Key Features:
The open-road version of the all-new V Star 1300 Tourer rolls out with a windshield, leather-wrapped, hard sidebags and a passenger backrest.
Midsize Star brings modern classic styling along for a lighter, sportier, hot-rod-inspired ride.
80-cubic-inch (1304cc) liquid-cooled, fuel-injected V-twin produces excellent power across the board along with a highly stimulating exhaust note.
Neo-streamline design, including a seamless gas tank and two-into-one exhaust, gives the V Star 1300 Tourer that distinctive Star look.
Steel chassis gets 48 percent of the bike’s weight on the front tire, for quick, light handling and maneuverability.
Authentic cruiser features such as belt drive and steel fenders open up the customization possibilities even further.

Engine:
80-cubic-inch (1304cc) liquid-cooled, single overhead cam 60-degree V-twin with dual counterbalancers offers plenty of smooth performance.
Computer-controlled twin-barrel fuel injection provides optimal mixture whatever the temperature or altitude.
Four valves per cylinder (36mm intake, 32mm exhaust) provide optimum combustion efficiency; roller rocker arms reduce friction for better performance and reduced wear.
Chromed cylinder sleeves contain 100mm forged pistons for excellent durability and longevity.
9.5:1 compression ratio and aggressive cam timing produce plenty of power across the board and a distinctive exhaust note.
Forged connecting rods ride a single crankpin for true V-twin sound and power.
Smooth-shifting five-speed transmission feeds power to an efficient, low-maintenance belt drive.
Sly cooling system routes liquid through hidden hoses and internal engine passages for air-cooled looks and liquid-cooled performance. Oil filter is easy to get to but also tucked nearly out of sight for clean, pure looks.
Hydraulic cam chain tensioner reduces noise and maintenance.
New AC generator and increased voltage regulator capacity optimizes performance.
Chassis/Suspension:
Steel cradle frame has four solid engine mounts—including one atop the front cylinder head—for maximum rigidity and excellent handling.
Stylish, braced steel swingarm and rear wheel are controlled by a single linkage-mounted shock absorber, adjustable for spring preload.
41mm fork tubes with stainless covers look great and serve up a smooth, controlled ride.
A thick, chromed handlebar rides in painted clamps for a custom look.
Seamless fuel tank carries 4.9 gallons of fuel. Mounting the fuel pump in a separate, tucked-away sub-tank allows the thin tank design.
Seven-spoke cast wheels and matching rear pulley mount fat, 16-inch tires for a cool period look albeit with big contact patches on the road.
A pair of 298mm front brake discs provide excellent power and feel.
Strong, light and virtually maintenance-free belt final drive routes power smoothly and efficiently to the rear wheel.
Floating floorboards and an adjustable heel/toe shifter help provide a comfortable, low-effort ride.
Additional Features:
Star quality paint, chrome and detailing vie for attention wherever you look; fenders are steel not plastic.
Retro-modern bar-mounted instrumentation contains analog speedometer along with LCD display; indicator lights for high beam, turn signal, low oil pressure, low fuel, coolant temperature, neutral—and engine diagnostic function.
Rider floorboards for comfort and room; heel/toe shifter makes moving through the five-speed gearbox a snap.
Bright multi-reflector headlight, LED taillight and amber turn signals behind clear lenses give a custom look.
Oxygen sensor and three-way catalyst reduce emissions.
